Programming Using Learning Mode

If the Auto-Scan or URC programming methods do not work, the Odessa remote can be programmed via learning mode, which means copying the IR codes from the original remotes.

After completing this procedure, the Volume +/- buttons and the ON-OFF button will work for your TV and Cable+/- will work for the Cable Box You can turn the TV volume up and down, and turn the TV on and off, using the orange remote control.

How to enter learning mode:

  1. On the orange remote control, hold UP and ON-OFF buttons for 3 seconds

  2. The OK button LED light will flash green, indicating you have entered learning mode.

How to learn (copy) IR codes from an original remote

  1. Point original remote towards the Odessa remote at an angle as shown above.

  2. Hold down the target key on the Odessa remote (for ex, VOL +), then press the corresponding source key on the original remote (for ex, VOL +).

  3. Do short, crisp presses on the original remote source button. Keep pressing until you get either:

    1. a slow flash of the OK button, which means the codes were copied correctly, or

    2. a quick flashing OK button, which means you have timed out of learning mode and need to go back into learning mode to try again

  4. Once you get the slow flash indicating successful learning, you can test that the code was successfully learned by pressing the target button on the Odessa remote to confirm intended operation.

  5. Once confirmed, repeat the steps, 1 through 3 with other target buttons on the Odessa remote.
