Team Member Permissions

If the OdessaConnect Teams module is enabled at a community, all users come into the system as a Team Member user type.

By default, Team Members have limited access to the system. They can download the OdessaConnect Teams (formerly called myTeamChannel) mobile app and check their schedule, participate in shift requests, and receive team messages.

Team Members that supervise and manage the schedule can be ‘upgraded’ to Department Head status which unlocks the ability to build/publish schedules, manage shift requests, and send team messages to their department.

If the OdessaConnect Community module is enabled, some Team Members will require access to manage additional areas of the system like Dining Menus, Events, Digital Signage, et al. This access can be configured in the Permissions area of OdessaConnect Teams within the Team Member profile.

Generally speaking, Department Heads and the Executive Director are the only users that require these checkboxes.

By default, all permissions are unchecked for Team Members.

Permission Checkboxes can be found near the bottom of each Team Member profile, within OdessaConnect Teams

When a permission checkbox is checked, it unlocks that particular area of the app.

For example, a Chef and Dining Room Supervisor will require the permission called “Can Read/Write Meals” so they can use the Dining Menu Builder within OdessaConnect Community.

Details on Permission Checkboxes

Can manage resident data

This permission unlocks the Residents section of OdessaConnect Community. A user with this permission can add/edit/remove residents in the system. A typical use case for this permission is an Activity Director or Maintenance Director who manages the resident roster or performs resident installations.

Can send team messages to entire facility

By default, Department Heads can only send team messages to their own department. This permission unlocks the ability for a Department Head to send messages to every staff member in the building. A typical use case is a Business Office Manager who needs to send broadcast messages to all staff members. Facility Admin users — typically an Executive Director at a community — have this ability enabled from the beginning.

Can read/write digital signage

Unlocks the ability to manage the Digital Signage screens (if installed) throughout the community. User can manage digital signage playlists and TV locations.

Can read/write events

Unlocks the ability to manage the Events and Calendar Builder features. This permission is often used for an Activity Director or any other employee that needs to manage the calendar.

Can read/write family messages

Unlocks the ability to send Family Messages like messages, photos, videos and YouTube Links. This permission is often selected for the Business Office Manager and Activity Director.

Can read/write meals

Can read/write newsletters

Can read/write resident messages

Unlocks the Resident Messages section of the web application. It grants the user the ability to send messages, photos, videos and YouTube Links to the resident TV screen. This permission is often selected for an Activity Director or any other employee that needs to send messages to resident TVs.

Can read/write surveys

Unlocks the Surveys section of the web application. It grants the user the ability to build/send surveys to resident TVs, then view the survey results and statistics. This permission is often selected for an Activity Director.
