Pairing The Remote To The Odessa Box

The Odessa remote must be paired to an Odessa box in order to operate. In most cases the remotes will be paired to boxes and shipped or delivered to you as a complete kit, therefore you will not need to do any pairing.

However if you ever do need to pair/ unpair/ repair, please see these links for specific instructions:

Some other general notes to keep in mind regarding the pairing of the Odessa remote to the Odessa box:

  1. Each Odessa box can only be paired with one Odessa remote.

  2. Odessa remotes will only operate Odessa boxes they are paired with; in other words Resident A’s remote will not operate Resident B’s box.

  3. Odessa remotes can be reset to “forget” a previously paired box, for example to be used with a different resident or different Odessa box (instructions for this procedure can be found in the links below).

  4. Odessa boxes can be reset to “forget” a previously paired remote, for example if the original remote becomes lost or damaged, then paired to a new remote (instructions for this procedure can be found in the links below).

  5. The Odessa remote communicates with the Odessa box via bluetooth (versus infrared signals), which means direct line of sight is not required for operation. In other words the Odessa remote does not have to be pointing at the Odessa box in order to function, and can communicate with the Odessa box from across the room or even from another room. This provides a more forgiving experience for the resident. (Note: the ON-OFF, VOLUME, and CHANNEL buttons on the Odessa remote communicate with the resident’s TV and cable box via infrared signals, which means the remote does need to be pointing at the TV or cable box in order to function.)
